NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
Get involved in making your community a better place to live. The crime rate in La Center is low, and most folks feel their City is safe. Let's be pro-active and keep it that way for the future! Start a Neighborhood Watch Program today. Call us at 360-263-2745 for information.
FREE GUN LOCKS
The La Center Police Department, through a partnership with Project Child Safe, is distributing free gunlocks and safety pamphlets at the La Center Police Station. The gunlocks, which are cable style, require that most firearms be unloaded beforehand, insuring safety. There is a firearm safety pamphlet included with the gunlocks that explains the importance of safe handling and secure firearm storage. This program reminds gun owners to properly store firearms in the home and make certain that firearms are not casually accessible to anyone - especially a child. Firearm owners who request free gunlocks will receive them, no questions asked. You can receive as many free gunlocks as you need by coming down to the La Center Police Station.
(Note: Project Child Safe is a nationwide program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices. For more information on the program you can visit their website at: www.projectchildsafe.org )
MEDICATION DISPOSAL
The La Center Police Department is a collection point for the Clark County Unwanted Medication Disposal Program. Unwanted medications include prescription drugs that are outdated, not wanted, or no longer needed. You may drop off unwanted medications Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Please try to have patient information removed or obscured and do not bring in any medical supplies such as syringes, tubing, etc.
CELL PHONE DONATION
You may drop off old cell phones with chargers at the La Center Police Department. Make sure all personal info and contacts have been erased. We are a collection site for a local agency that uses them as 911 phones for those in danger.
